Manchester United and Newcastle will face off in the fourth round of the League Cup, reprising last season’s final. United secured a home fixture against Eddie Howe’s team following their victory over Crystal Palace. Newcastle advanced with a 1-0 win over Manchester City. In other matchups, Arsenal will visit West Ham, Liverpool will journey to Bournemouth, and Chelsea will host Championship side Blackburn.

Manchester United will take on Newcastle in the fourth round of the League Cup in a replay of last season’s final.
Newcastle booked their place in the next round by defeating Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City on Wednesday night, while United put three goals past Crystal Palace on Tuesday to book their place in the last 16.
Elsewhere, West Ham were drawn against Arsenal in a London derby and Liverpool will travel to the Vitality Stadium to play Bournemouth after both sides were victorious on Wednesday evening.

Chelsea will host Blackburn at Stamford Bridge, while Sean Dyche will welcome his old side Burnley to Goodison Park after Everton secured only their second win of the new season against Aston Villa on Wednesday.
League Two side Mansfield will square off against Port Vale – who are fourth in League One – while Exeter, who beat Luton on Tuesday, will take on Championship side Middlesbrough.

Liverpool stage another comeback against Leicester
Liverpool came back from going a goal down at Anfield to secure a 3-1 victory against Championship leaders Leicester on Wednesday.
Enzo Maresca’s side took the lead after just three minutes, catching the Reds off guard, with Kasey McAteer finishing off a clinical counter attack. The Foxes pressed well, winning the ball in the middle of the park before the 21-year-old put his side a goal up, sliding the a shot under Caoimhin Kelleher.
Despite having the lion’s share of chances in the first half, Liverpool couldn’t find the back of the net, with the breakthrough coming after half-time, Cody Gakpo capitalising on a fantastic assist from new signing Ryan Gravenberch. The Dutchman turned and thumped a right-footed shot into the goal to pull Jurgen Klopp’s side level.
Liverpool grew in confidence and should have taken the lead with Gakpo’s header looping over the goalkeeper before rebounding off the crossbar and onto the line. It didn’t matter, though, as Dominik Szoboszlai lashed Liverpool in front with a stunning shot from 22 yards out.
Diogo Jota had the final say with a backheel finish that assured Liverpool of their spot in the last 16.
Everton secure back-to-back wins
Everton secured their second victory of the season, defeating Aston Villa 2-1 to book their place in the fourth round.
James Garner put the Toffees ahead with Amadou Onana poking a clever through-ball to the England U21 star who produced a thunderous strike past goalkeeper Robin Olsen.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin got the second goal, capitalising on a poor pass at the back from Youri Tielemans, with the Everton forward stealing back possession before breaking forward and firing in to put the Toffees 2-0 up.

And it was an excellent finish too, with the England forward scoring back-to-back goals for the first time since May 2022, after he scored for Sean Dyche’s side during their 3-1 victory against Brentford on Saturday.
Moussa Diaby could have got one back for the home side soon after, breaking free on the right hand side to fire a shot across goal into the far corner, but Jordan Pickford pulled off a spectacular save, stretching his right boot out to deflect the ball away from the goal.
Boubacar Kamara’s 84th-minute deflected strike from outside of the penalty area fooled Pickford with the England shot-stopper unable to keep out the late strike, but it was too little too late for Unai Emery’s side.
Chelsea end goal drought against Brighton
Nicolas Jackson helped end Chelsea’s three-match goal drought as they beat Brighton 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Summer signing Cole Palmer played an excellent through ball into the 22-year-old who fired a right foot through the ball to put Mauricio Pochettino’s side ahead.
Brighton applied pressure in search of an equaliser as Solly March’s powerful header was kept out by his former team-mate Robert Sanchez.
Brighton continued to press with Joao Pedro firing a shot over the bar late on, but Pochettino’s side held on.

Arteta’s young stars fire the Gunners into the next round
Arsenal secured a berth in the next round with a 1-0 win against fellow Premier League side Brentford.
Mikel Arteta named 19-year-old prodigy Charles Sagoe Jnr in his starting XI, with the youngster making his senior debut on the wing.
Arsenal took the lead in the eighth minute, Eddie Nketiah breaking into the Brentford penalty area before laying the ball back to Reiss Nelson, who side-footed a shot into the bottom right corner.
Brentford pressed late on but couldn’t find an equaliser, with Aaron Ramsdale, back in the starting XI for the night, keeping out a powerful shot from Frank Onyenka before Jakub Kiwior slid in to stop Keane Lewis-Potter from converting late on.
The result means Arteta’s side remain unbeaten this season in all competitions.
Half-time substitutes the difference for Bournemouth
Bournemouth secured a 2-0 win over Stoke after inspired substitutions by manager Andoni Iraola at half-time.
The Cherries introduced Dominic Solanke and Ryan Christie at the break and the tactical changes soon paid off, with the former breaking the deadlock just five minutes into the second half, receiving the ball from Adam Smith before firing the ball into the bottom right corner of the net. Three minutes later Joe Rothwell made it 2-0 in fortunate fashion.
Iwobi scores on first start as Fulham too strong for Norwich

Fulham lumped the ball into the penalty area, with new signing Alex Iwobi heading back across the box, with a scramble to clear the ball ensuing, but it was the Brazilian, gambling at the back, who took advantage, putting Fulham a goal up in the first half.
Iwobi was back in the thick of the action in the second half, making his first start and scoring his first goal, striking a wonderful side-footed strike from outside the box into the back of the net after being teed up by Harry Wilson.
It was an end-to-end match at Craven Cottage, and Norwich soon found themselves on the scoresheet through Borja Sainz, who danced his way into the Fulham penalty area, trading the ball with Jonathan Rowe before firing the ball past Marek Rodak in goal.
